Euroleague Basketball has announced significant changes to its leadership structure, appointing Paulius Motiejunas as the new acting Chief Executive Officer and extending Dejan Bodiroga’s tenure as President for the upcoming 2023-24 season. The unanimous decision was made by all 13 shareholders.
Dejan Bodiroga, who assumed the role of Euroleague Basketball President in September 2022, will continue his mission to enhance the quality of the competition, foster relationships with stakeholders, and strengthen ties with the wider basketball community, including players, coaches, officials, domestic leagues, and FIBA.
Meanwhile, Paulius Motiejunas, a prominent figure within Euroleague Basketball, will take over as CEO, succeeding Marshall Glickman, who served in the role during the previous season. Motiejunas brings extensive experience from his time at Zalgiris Kaunas, where he held various positions such as director of communications, general manager, club president, and owner since 2013. Under his leadership, Zalgiris achieved notable success, qualifying for multiple EuroLeague Playoffs and making their first Final Four appearance in 2018.
Motiejunas’ contributions both on and off the court earned him recognition as the EuroLeague Executive of the Year in consecutive seasons, 2017-18 and 2018-19. His expertise and accomplishments make him well-suited to guide Euroleague Basketball into a promising future.
