From one European mentor to another, it is all about respect and high regard as always.
As reports have swirled on Saturday that the Toronto Raptors are set to hire Darko Rajakovic to become their newest head coach, Sergio Scariolo is nothing but happy for the success of the young Serbian coach to land the coveted position.
Via Twitter, Scariolo congratulated Rajakovic for successfully taking the Raptors’ coaching gig. He also thanked the franchise for considering him as a candidate for their opening.
Scariolo also expressed his delight that the European coaches are finally gaining recognition around the NBA for their talent and tactics.
Both Scariolo and Rajakovic have emerged as reported finalists for the team’s coaching vacancy. As such, the Raps have ultimately leaned on Rajakovic as they believed he can handle either of the contention or potential rebuild of the franchise.
Rajakovic replaces Nick Nurse, who guided Toronto in the last five years and led them to an NBA title back in 2018-19.
