In the eyes of the great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, LeBron James has no more thing to prove given the golden career he already got.

Abdul-Jabbar was in attendance at the unveiling of a Koreatown mural commissioned by the Los Angeles Lakers which features the all-time greats who played for their franchise. As the superstar forward hinted at a potential retirement following their Conference Finals finish, the legendary center got plenty of words to say about James.

“At the end of the year, after all that, LeBron and most of the guys looked like they’d been through two seasons, you know? But they still gave it an awesome effort,” Abdul-Jabbar said Monday, per Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Times. “I think it’s up to him. Certainly doesn’t have to prove anything. And it’s just what he wants to do at this point.”

James notably surpassed Abdul-Jabbar this year on the NBA’s all-time scoring leaderboard – a record that the iconic center held for nearly four decades.

Year 20 is already in the books for James. As such, he already achieved a lucrative resumé that boasts four league MVPs, four NBA titles, multiple All-Star appearances and tons of All-NBA selections.

Whatever may be the direction that James desires to head to, Abdul-Jabbar assures that his respect and admiration will remain intact for the future hall of famer.

“I’ve never had a chance to talk to LeBron other than two or three minutes,” Abdul-Jabbar said. “There’s no animosity or resentment there at all. He’s done remarkable things. He deserves all the accolades, whatever it is, that he’s accomplished. … We might get the chance [to speak]. I certainly wouldn’t be against it. As far as where his heart is and the things that he does, I’ve got nothing but admiration for him.”
