As it is, Kevin Durant doesn’t hold any type of sadness in his decision to leave the Golden State Warriors.

In a widely-condemned move, Durant controversially joined the Warriors in the 2016 offseason to further empower the club’s superteam state, wrecking the entire NBA’s balance of power for the next few seasons. After two titles in three trips to the NBA Finals, he decided to take a new route in the summer of 2019.

The departure of Durant to join the Brooklyn Nets started new beginnings for the Dubs. And after three years, they made a return to the NBA Finals and clinched their fourth title in the last eight years.

Durant experienced a lot of ups and downs upon exiting the Bay Area and is still eyeing that third title, but he got no such regret about the past.

“Hell, no,” Durant told Fox Sports’ Melissa Rohlin if he regretted leaving the Warriors after the franchise won a championship last year without him. “I don’t regret anything I do. I don’t regret my time in the league because I feel like I maximize every day as a player. I feel like I get the most out of myself every time I step on the floor.

“So, it’s like regardless of the results and the wins and losses, I can live with that part of it. I would never say anything I do is a failure. We could lose 82 games in a season, but if I come to work and every rep is done with intention and with force, every rep I can live with.”

Durant seemed finally gratified by his back-to-back reigns with the Dubs for both 2017 and 2018, wherein he was their Finals Most Valuable Player.

As such, he can only look towards the present and create his own story, this time with the Phoenix Suns.
