Darvin Ham on Dennis Schroder: “He’s unbelievable, extraordinary”

Dennis Schroder came off the bench for the Lakers in the play-in game against the Timberwolves and scored 21 points, including a crucial three-pointer late in the game.

With 1.1 seconds left to play in the fourth quarter and the scored tied at 95, LeBron James found the German point guard in the corner who knocked a three.

It wasn’t the game-winner because Anthony Davis fouled Mike Conley on the other end and the veteran made all three free-throws. Los Angeles sealed the win in overtime.

Lakers head coach Darvin Ham was asked about Schroder’s performance during the postgame press conference.

“The heart, his competitive spirit, just his ability to make big plays and take tough matchups in the biggest of moments,” Ham said. “His attitude, his confidence. He’s unbelievable, extraordinary and he lives for those types of moments.

“Early in the year he got hit in the corner on the same similar shot late in the game. I can’t remember exactly who we were playing but I do remember the play. The pass might have come from Bron as well. He missed that shot.

“But to see him knock it down. He’s going to do everything with confidence offensively, defensively, ask for the toughest matchup. It’s Dennis. It’s classic Dennis. We’re fortunate that he’s on our team.”
