Darvin Ham reacts to Lakers defeating Timberwolves

LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Dennis Schroder combined for 75 of 108 Lakers’ points, helping their team defeat the Timberwolves in overtime (108-102) in the play-in tournament.

In addition, Los Angeles limited Anthony Edwards to just 9 points (3/17 field goals). After the game Lakers head coach Darvin Ham talked about his team’s effort agains Minnesota.

“We struggled early. I think they were able to get out and run off of some of our turnovers. We forced them into some turnovers early as well,” Ham said. “It’s hard trying to get our defense set.

“We have made the plan within our best abilities to try to not let Anthony Edwards get loose. We double-teamed him for the most of the game in our pick and rolls and DHOs and whatever with our five man. That spreads you out a little bit.

“The guys behind that blitz that double-team they have to be on their horse scrambling, they pinned in a few times, they slashed and sealed, got the ball to some of their shooters, some of their guys came off hot. They really made us work for this one.

“Again, shout out to Chris Finch, KAT, Anthony Edwards and specifically Michael Conley, Taurean Prince. Those guys play with a ton of pride.

“That’s a hell of a ball club over there. Down some of their main guys. Nothing but respect for those guys. Michael Conley, man, I thought I was watching Memphis Grizzlies from years ago. It just seemed like everything he threw went in.

“He’s just one of the greatest human beings you could ever meet and be around. His leadership was on full display. Just his game, the level at which he played was unbelievable. So, we’re very fortunate to come out with this win.
