Set to enter the final year of his contract with the Detroit Pistons, Dwane Casey stands as one of the league’s head coaches to be observed on moving forward per Yahoo! Sports’ Jake Fischer.
Per Fischer, Casey met with the team owner led by Tom Gores last Wednesday and went on to discuss his future, wherein sources noted that staff members are preparing for a potential change. Casey could be handed his own choice of either remaining as a team’s top mentor in his final year or just taking an advisory role within the front office for the club.
Young Milwaukee Bucks assistant Charles Lee is viewed as a top candidate should the Pistons look for a new voice and presence from their sidelines to replace Casey. In addition, Toronto Raptors assistant Adrian Griffin is a considerable option as a replacement.
Casey has been occupying Detroit’s head coaching helm since 2018-19. He only managed to lead the club in two playoff appearances (2019-2020), before heading toward a full rebuild.
