The Trail Blazers have offered Jerami Grant a four-year, $112 million contract extension, but the player is in no rush to make a decision on the offer.
“I’m kind of focused on the season at hand right now,” the 28-year-old small forward said, per Jason Quick of The Athletic. “Probably will wait until after the season and talk to (GM) Joe (Cronin). Everything is good. I like it here. Really enjoying it. So, yeah … we will discuss it when it’s time.
From a financial standpoint, it makes sense for Grant to wait till the summer when he will become an unrestricted free agent.
As noted by Quick, the former second-round pick will be eligible to be offered as much as 5-years and $233 million by Portland. Other teams could offer him as much as 4 years and $174 million.
This season Grant is averaging 21.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 35.8 minutes per game.
