As such, teammate Markieff Morris only acknowledges the fact that all credit should be given to health with regard to Simmons’s promising progress.

“Healthy,” Morris answered on what is now different between the old and new Simmons, via NetsDaily.

“He finally got his legs under him. He was off for two years. Y’all wouldn’t give him a chance, y’all want to criticize him after every fu***** game …” Morris continued. “But when a guy don’t play two years – because obviously y’all wouldn’t know because none of y’all played in the NBA, he had to get his body right. Contact every night, he’s playing 30-plus minutes, it takes time.”

After sitting out for the entirety of the 2021-22 season taking his time to recover from back issues, Simmons started his new campaign for the Brooklyn Nets marred by rustiness and being passive on both ends of the floor. But as the season continued its way, the Aussie star gradually stepped up for the franchise that was rocked by initial controversies – from the coaching dismissal of Steve Nash as well as the suspension of Kyrie Irving.

For the past five games, Simmons efficiently dropped double-digit scoring while marking up 14.6 points average to go with 7.0 boards and 6.4 assists. In the given stretch, the club won four of them with the swingman heavily contributing with his all-around game and improving aggressiveness.

As Brooklyn continues to eye a season of redemption, Simmons being active again and taking his part as a bonafide versatile engine will remain significant in their ultimate dream of hoisting an NBA title.
