For Draymond Green, there is a silver lining that suddenly appeared and must be noted in the side of Golden State Warriors despite falling in a close one against a newfound rival in Phoenix Suns.
Green, who harshly criticized himself from the past few games for underperforming, feels rejuvenated and encouraged on what he did for the Warriors this time. Yet, he didn’t deny the exhaustion he had from the team’s recent five-game road trip.
“That was a tough road trip … to jump back into a 5 in 7 nights, I mean earlier this morning I was exhausted,” Green said, via Madeline Kenney of Mercury News.
The Dubs went into a harsh 1-4 record on the road while battling questionable difficulties of consistency and handling offensive load without Stephen Curry. Sitting comfortably at the second spot of the West last week, they now find themselves at the fourth, as the emerging Memphis Grizzlies and the red-hot Dallas Mavericks blazed past them.
Though those were troubling days to deal with and they further dropped on the losing column, Green is delighted that they finally saw the light outside of the tunnel.
“We don’t do moral victories around here, we’ve won way too much for that, but I think tonight we found ourselves,” the big man said after dropping an all-around performance of eight points, ten boards, seven assists, two steals and three blocks in a losing effort, via Kylen Mills of KRON4 News. “We found our competitive spirit.
“Tonight is the team that I know, tonight is the team that… we’ve been for majority of the year. Like I said, you cut back on the 21 turnovers, [we] put a pretty good game together.”
With still five games on their schedule, optimism rose for the Warriors in preparing for the upcoming postseason duel. Losing in a tight statement battle against the Suns on Thursday seems like a blessing in disguise for the Bay Area to bounce back towards the bigger picture.
Golden State will look to break their four-game losing slump as the Utah Jazz will visit the Chase Center on Saturday.
