Joel Embiid says Matisse Thybulle has a chance to win DPOY after shutting down Steph Curry

Philadelphia 76ers stopped the Warriors offense and claim a huge win by beating them 93-102 in front of their fans at Wells Fargo Center.

Matisse Thybulle was a big factor in the Sixers’ win with his impressive defensive effort on Steph Curry, who shot just 6-of-20 from the field. Joel Embiid, who carried his team’s efforts in the fourth quarter to win the game praised Thybulle for his effort.

“He was amazing. To see that, I mean. I’ve been saying it since he got here. He’s probably the best perimeter defender in the league, and I think he has a chance to win the Defensive Player of the Year.”

Embiid was also amazing as he finished the contest with a game-high 26 points along with nine rebounds, four assists and two steals.

Andre Drummond, who played a big role as part of the bench mob that combined for 29 points, praised Thybulle for his work on Curry.

“That what he does. He’s a great defender. When it’s time to step up to the plate for big moments, he’s always there when we need him. He played a hell of a game defensively, regardless of not seeing the ball offensively. He knew assignment today, and he killed it,” Drummond said in the post-game presser.

Thybulle was a non-factor on the offensive end; however, he was the only starter alongside Tobias Harris to have a positive (+11) plus-minus once the game was finished.
