Cade Cunningham out for at least three more Pistons’ games because of ankle injury

Cade Cunningham won’t be available for the Detroit Pistons’ three-game road trip that starts Saturday, Dwane Casey told reporters Friday.

Cunningham has yet to make his official debut in Detroit, after the Pistons selected him as the first overall pick of the 2021 NBA draft.

He missed the entire preseason after hurting his ankle early in training camp. He was also out for the season opener vs. the Chicago Bulls Tuesday.

The 20-year-old Oklahoma product hopes to turn the franchise around, as Detroit made the postseason twice in the last 10 years.

Cunningham averaged 18.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game while shooting 50.0 percent from three-point range during the Summer League with the Pistons.
