The NBA is back, and it delivered an entertaining opening night.

The Detroit Pistons outlasted the Boston Celtics 121-113 in a complete comeback on Tuesday evening.

Cade Cunningham led the Pistons with 22 points and eight assists, while Javonte Green added 19 points after not playing in the first half.

Jalen Duren also had 22 points and nine rebounds, Duncan Robinson added 21, and Ausar Thompson contributed 11 points and 11 rebounds.

On the other hand, Paul George dropped 38 points, the most by a Celtic in his debut.

The nine-time All-Star showed he has plenty of gas left in his 17th season after being acquired from the 76ers in exchange for Jaylen Brown.

While Jayson Tatum missed 17 of 23 shots had 13 points and 11 assists.

The six-time All-Star is set to play his first full season since tearing his Achilles tendon in May 2025.

Payton Pritchard and Derrick White added 17 points each.

Boston’s defensive collapse allowed Green to take his time for a fifth triple that gave the Pistons a 13-point lead with 3:33 left.

The Celtics took their biggest lead early in the third at 72-50 after George made three 3-pointers in less than a minute.

The Pistons cut their deficit to six points after three quarters and surged ahead in the fourth.

Green made a go-ahead triple, and Duren added a three-point play, and Robinson connected on a three to put them up 107-99 with 5:10 to go.

Both teams will play on Firday: the Celtics will host the Knicks, while the Pistons visit Miami.
