Memphis Grizzlies forward Jaren Jackson Jr. has agreed to a four-year, $105 million rookie extension, his agent told Adrian Wojnarowski.
The deal will go into effect during the 2022-23 season.
Today at 6 p.m. ET is the deadline for members of the 2018 draft class to sign their rookie extensions.
Jackson, 22, was the fourth overall pick in 2018 and has formed one of the best young duos in the NBA with point guard Ja Morant.
In 126 career NBA games (117 starts), Jackson is averaging 15.4 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.5 blocks per game.
Last year, he only played 11 games after being sidelined for the majority of the season as he recovered from a meniscus injury, but he returned to full strength in the preseason and looks primed for a breakout season.
Atlanta Hawks’ Trae Young, Dallas Mavericks’ Luka Doncic, Oklahoma City Thunder’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Denver Nuggets’ Michael Porter Jr., Phoenix Suns’ Mikal Bridges, Orlando Magic’s Wendell Carter Jr. and Boston Celtics’ Robert Williams III are among the players who have agreed to their extensions.
Other candidates for new deals include Suns’ Deandre Ayton, Cleveland Cavaliers’ Collin Sexton, Charlotte Hornets’ Miles Bridges, Milwaukee Bucks’ Donte DiVincenzo, San Antonio Spurs’ Lonnie Walker and Hawks’ Kevin Huerter.
