Zaire Wade joining NBA G League

Zaire Wade, the son of Dwyane Wade, is signing a contract in the NBA G League and is expected to join the Utah Jazz’s affiliate Salt Lake City Stars, according to Shams Charania.

Dwyane became a part-owner of the Jazz back in April, as his friend Ryan Smith is the team majority owner.

Zaire previously played for Sierra Canyon School in California along with Bronny James before transferring to Brewster Academy in New Hampshire in April 2020.

After transferring, the 19-year-old reclassified to the Class of 2021.

Zaire tore a ligament in his right ankle which forced him to miss a large portion of the season.

Despite the setback, Zaire believes his game progressed.

“I think I’m smarter,” Wade told 247Sports. “My IQ was already high but I think that being injured and seeing what we needed from the sidelines helped me in general, seeing my teammates tendencies and shooting the ball. I couldn’t jump or move a lot but I was shooting during that time.”

Earlier this year, Zaire received an offer from South Carolina along with his other offers from DePaul, Rhode Island and Toledo.

By signing in the G League, he would bypass playing in college.
