Russell Westbrook played his second preseason game for the Los Angeles Lakers. The 32-year-old point guard had 8 points, 2 rebounds, 5 assists and 9 turnovers in 26 minutes of play as the Phoenix Suns crushed his team 123-94.

After the game, Westbrook talked about the preseason growing pains as the Lakers remain winless. “I never had one good preseason. Me personally,” he said. “I never really worry about it just because it’s preseason it’s figuring out. A lot of guys haven’t played a game probably since April maybe or something like that of some sort.

“We haven’t even played with each other yet all on the floor. So it’s still a learning curve and we’re going to find ways to figure it out by the time you start the season coming and when that comes through there are going to be some adversity as well. So that’s to be expected. We know that. We all understand that.

“I’ve been in this game for a long time. We just got to make sure that we keep our heads level and focus on our main goal which is make sure that we’re playing our best basketball towards the end of the year.”
