FC Bayern Munich will face another EuroLeague powerhouse Thursday as Andrea Trinchieri’s side will play in front of its fans for the first time since March 4, 2020, in the top-tier European competition.

The German side will again play without six players as they are still working out individually for several reasons including injury and health and safety protocols.

Despite the adversity, head coach Andrea Trinchieri remains optimistic ahead of a game that FC Barcelona is considered the grand favorite.

“It will be a great feeling to have another EuroLeague game in front of your own fans,” said Bayern coach Andrea Trinchieri. “It’s a big game in general: against a great team with a great coach.

You just destroyed the German champions in the first game. Even though this game will present a lot of difficulties for us to face, I think we will do a great job.”

Bayern started the season in the EuroLeague with a close-fought loss to Maccabi Tel Aviv. The Bavarians had the chance to win, but Darrun Hilliard did not make the final shot of the game.

“They are one of the absolute top teams, were in the final last year,” said FCBB center Augustine Rubit on the Spanish giants. “You have a great offense and a great defense, we have to be absolutely ready and really deliver a perfect game.”
