Panathinaikos fans should expect a change in the ownership of the club in the foreseeable future.
According to club legends Fragkiskos Alvertis and Dimitris Diamantidis, who also are in charge of the team, Panathinaikos is still for sale.
“We all understand that Dimitris Giannakopoulos has left the team, which is still for sale. We are here fighting every day trying to keep the team at the highest possible level, under these circumstances.
Hopefully, the team will remain alive. That is our responsibility. We love this team after spending so many years here. It is a complicated situation, but Panathinaikos can surely be successful as a big club and with the support of the fans,” Alvertis told the Greek TV channel Nova.
The six-time EuroLeague champions have been struggling over the last couple of years. The club has significantly reduced the budget and the “Greens” are no longer a top four team in the EuroLeague.
