Real Madrid came a step away from the top of the EuroLeague, following its 74-87 road win over ASVEL Villeurbanne on Tuesday.

The “Whites” took control from the opening tip and never looked back. They led by as many as 21 (54-75) and sealed the deal. For its part, ASVEL couldn’t come closer than eight points (70-78) and suffered the defeat.

Real Madrid extended its winning streak to three games and improved to 8-2. On the other hand, ASVEL has now lost two straight and dropped to 6-4.

Zalgiris Kaunas claimed its first EuroLeague win and snapped a nine-game losing streak (1-9). The Lithuanians rallied past Panathinaikos at home (76-69), but still remain at the bottom of the standings.

The hosts took control early in the game (34-20) and led for the majority of the night. The visitors cut the deficit to two (67-65), but a 9-4 run let Zalgiris seal the deal. For their part, Panathinaikos dropped to 2-8 and are on a four-game losing streak.

Baskonia dominated Crvena Zvezda on both ends and returned to the winning track with an emphatic home victory over Crvena Zvezda (93-74). The Basques outscored the Serbians 30-10 in the second quarter and cruised to the win.

This was the first victory for Baskonia after the departure of head coach Dusko Ivanovic. The hosts now are at 4-6. On the contrary, Crvena Zvezda dropped to 4-6 and saw its two-game winning streak come to an end.

In Munich, Bayern earned a much-needed win in its effort to maintain a EuroLeague playoff push. The Bavarians endured the comeback of Fenerbahce and claimed the 71-63 victory at Audi Dome.

The hosts led by 10 in the first period (22-12), but the Turks came back and tied the game at 52. Yet, Bayern regained control and sealed the deal.

Bayern now has a 4-6 record, whereas Fenerbahce has now lost two straight and is at 3-7.
