FC Barcelona added Zalgiris’ promising forward Rokas Jokubaitis during this offseason. FC Barcelona coach Sarunas Jasikevicius shared his thoughts on whether Jokubaitis will remain with the Catalans.

Jokubaitis is among the European prospects that will be selected in the 2021 NBA Draft, which will take place on Thursday. If the forward is selected high in the draft, the team would definitely want Jokubaitis to immediately make the jump to the NBA.

Jokubaitis signed a five-year deal with the Blaugrana earlier in July. The 20-year-old prospect is projected as a second-round pick by multiple mock drafts. If he’s indeed selected by a team in the second round, then he will remain stashed and spend the upcoming year with Barcelona.

That’s what Jasikevicius said on Jokubaitis as reported by Mundo Deportivo and transcribed by Eurohoops:

“The idea is that he stays with us. But if Rokas is chosen very high, that will mean that his franchise will want him to go to play as soon as possible,” Jasikevicius pointed out. If that happens, we will have to make another adjustment, although I hope that Rokas will continue with us.”

Jokubaitis averaged 7.0 points and 2.5 assists in 20 minutes per game through the 2020-21 EuroLeague season.
