Germany rallies past Nigeria to secure first win in Tokyo Olympics

Germany outlasted Nigeria 99-92 and secured its first win in Group B of the Basketball Olympic Tournament. Both teams were tied at 81 with six minutes remaining in regulation, but Germany made a late run to get an important win.

The winning side had five players scoring in double digits, with Johannes Voigtmann leading Germany with 19 points and seven rebounds. Moritz Wagner added 17, while Danilo Barthel finished with 14. Maodo Lo had another great game in Tokyo with 13 points and nine assists.

As for Nigeria, Jordan Nwora’s incredible game was not enough. The Bucks’ shooting guard finished with a game-high 33 points, connecting seven threes in the process. Nigeria fell to an 0-2 record and has one game remaining vs. Italy.

On the other hand, Germany improved to 1-1 after losing the first game of the tournament to Italy. The last preliminary round fixture follows Saturday vs Australia.
