Blazers, Chauncey Billups reportedly agree to a 5-year deal

Portland Trail Blazers and Chauncey Billups have reached an agreement that will make the former NBA point guard the new head coach in Portland, reports ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

The deal featured four guaranteed years and a team option on the fifth year. The team will introduce the new head coach on Tuesday.

Portland is moving forward with Billups despite facing some criticism over the pick due to a 1997 sexual assault case involving the- then- Boston Celtics’ rookie.

The Blazers parted ways with Terry Stotts earlier this month after a first round playoff loss to the Denver Nuggets. Billups has no previous head coaching experience, but was considered a future head coach or GM due to his NBA career as a leader of a championship team.
