Julius Randle experienced a break-out season with the New York Knicks during the 2020-21 campaign. The franchise is reportedly satisfied with the way Randle handled adversity in New York, per Ian Begley of SNY.

After a mediocre first season with the Knicks, Randle elevated his game during the past year as he was named an All-Star for the first time in his career, leading the franchise to the playoffs.

“The club obviously wants to keep Randle in the fold because of his strong play on the court. But people in the organization also value and appreciate Randle’s ability to handle adversity in New York.

They are impressed by Randle’s ability to thrive this past season after dealing with all of the negativity of his first season in New York,” Begley wrote.

Randle set career highs in points (24.1 PPG), assists (6.0), three-point percentage (41.1 percent) and minutes (37.6) and tied his career high in rebounding (10.2 RPG).

Randle is under contract through next season and will be looking for a max deal. Getting him another max player alongside him will elevate the Knicks’ chances to become contenders.

After a surprising 41-31 record, Tom Thibodeau and Leon Rose are certainly going to look on ways to improve the team and build on a successful 2020-21 regular season run.
