The Los Angeles Lakers were crushed by the Phoenix Suns by 30 points in Game 5 (85-115) as they played without Anthony Davis. LeBron James had a team-high 24 points but it wasn’t enough as the defending champions were down by 30 points already at half time.
After the game, James talked about the loss and what it means in this series. “We got our ass kicked. It’s just that simple,” the four-time NBA champion said. “They did got to whatever they wanted to get to in this game. We got to be better obviously if we want to force a Game 7.
“Obviously, a lot to learn from this game, a lot to cover, see what we got to do better going into Game 6. They pretty much just kicked our ass. There’s nothing else really to say.”
The Lakers are now on the brink of elimination as they trail 2-3 in the series and could be without Davis in Game 6.
