FIBA AfroBasket 2021 draw complete

The field for the FIBA AfroBasket 2021 is just about set after today’s draw in Kigali, Rwanda, placed 14 of the 16 teams into four groups.

The two remaining spots will be filled by the second and third place teams from Group E of the AfroBasket Qualifiers.

Egypt has already qualified from the group, but Uganda still has to play three more games after they couldn’t play in the last qualifying window due to COVID-19 concerns.

Uganda, Morocco and Cape Verde will compete for the final two spots in this year’s AfroBasket.

The groups for the 2021 FIBA AfroBasket are as follows:

Group A

  • Rwanda
  • Congo DR
  • Angola
  • No. 3 team from Group E

Group B

  • Tunisia
  • Central African Republic
  • Egypt
  • Guinea

Group C

  • Nigeria
  • Cote d’Ivoire
  • Kenya
  • Mali

Group D

  • Senegal
  • Cameroon
  • South Sudan
  • No. 2 team from Group E

The Group Phase will take place from Aug. 24-26 with the top two teams from each group then advancing to the Knock-Out Phase (Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and Finals).

The Third-Place Game and the Final will be played on Sept. 5.
