The Lakers were crushed by the Clippers (118-94) at Staples Center last night. The Clippers took a commanding lead early in the game as they held a 23-point advantage at halftime.

After the game, the Lakers head coach Frank Vogel talked about how his team was unable to stop the Clippers. “[Defence was] better in the second half but they shot the heck out of the ball in the first half, made 11 threes. Some were there they made guarded ones and some we got too much into our rotations,” he said.

“Our scheme is predicated on trying to minimize the rotations as much as possible. But they’ve got some elite players over there that require double teams and we have to be sooner to get to the three-point shooters. The sooner than we were tonight.

“It’s tough to put scouting report when you play the Clippers, the best three-point shooting team in the league. We didn’t get that under control in the first half.”

The loss keeps the reigning NBA champions in the sixth place in the Western Conference, just above the play-in tournament spot.

They are facing the Portland Trail Blazers next and would drop to the seventh place if they lose the game as both team share identical record of 37 wins and 29 losses.
