Chicago Bulls are in the play-in tournament discussion being 1.5 games behind the eighth spot. The Bulls are expected to retain veteran forward Thaddeus Young through the 25 March trade deadline, however that could not be the case for Lauri Markkanen, per ESPN’s Brian Windhorst.

“The Chicago Bulls have drawn interest in versatile forward Thaddeus Young, sources said. But the Bulls, like the Kings, are on the playoff bubble and aren’t anxious to be sellers even though they’re under .500.

They might be willing to make a deal involving another power forward, free agent-to-be Lauri Markkanen, but Young will likely be staying in Chicago.”

Young’s contract is partially guaranteed for next season, whereas Markkanen will likely be a restricted free agent after this season.

The 23-year-old is averaging 18.7 points and 6.0 rebounds shooting over 40 percent from deep, something that makes him an attractive target for any team, despite his long injury history.
