Cavaliers acquiring Lauri Markkanen in three-team deal

The Cleveland Cavaliers are acquiring Chicago Bulls’ restricted free agent forward Lauri Markkanen on a four-year, $67 million deal via sign-and-trade, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.

The deal between the Cavaliers and Bulls will involve a third team, the Portland Trail Blazers.

The full breakdown of the trade:

  • Cavaliers receive: Bulls’ Markkanen
  • Bulls receive: Trail Blazers’ Derrick Jones Jr., Trail Blazers’ lottery protected future first-rounder and Cavaliers’ protected 2023 second-rounder
  • Trail Blazers receive: Cavaliers’ Larry Nance Jr.

Markkanen will get a fresh start with the Cavaliers, while the Trail Blazers get a solid all-around player in Nance.

Markkanen, 24, averaged 13.6 points and 5.3 rebounds per game, while shooting 48.0 percent from the field in 51 games last season.

Nance, 28, averaged 9.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.7 steals, while shooting 47.1 percent from the field in only 35 games last season due to injury.
