Andrew Bogut says Bucks chose Monta Ellis over Steph Curry in 2012 trade

Former NBA vet Andrew Bogut recently discussed the 2012 trade involving him going to Golden State that could’ve changed Milwaukee’s franchise forever. Bogut says the Bucks had a choice between Monta Ellis or Steph Curry, but went with Ellis based on medical/injury history. The trade took place on March 13, 2012 at a time when Curry was inactive with an ankle injury, only appearing in 26 games total that season.

(Via All Ball with Doug Gottlieb):

“I know the story personally because the person who looked over the medical files I had a good relationship with. The person that was involved in looking over had a role to strictly look at the medicals, that was the only opinion the club asked from them. The club did the talent evaluation and they just said ‘Look at these two medicals and tell us what’s better.’ There were huge concerns about Steph’s ankle at that point, and he got the mark on his name that this guy’s injury history is worse and could potentially play less games than Monta. So they went with Monta.”
