Stelmet’s first win gives Kuban Last 32 place, Eurocup round up

Stelmet Zielona Gora just about stayed alive in the Eurocup after they secured their first win of the competition by beating PAOK 84-77 in Group F.

The win also mathematically lands Lokomotiv Kuban into the Last 32 without having to play a game.

The Poles move to 1-6 in the group, while PAOK drop to 4-3. Quinton Hosley led the Zielona Gora attack with 17 points, Przemyslaw Zamojski shot 4/4 from downtown for 14 points and Steve Burtt Jr. added 13.

Julian Vaughn had 19 points for PAOK.

A tip-in winner by Cantu’s Damian Hollis broke Artland Dragons fans hearts as they came away with a 68-66 road win in Quakenbrueck.

Cantu improved to 2-5 in Group B to remain in the race for a spot in the Last 32. Dragons dropped to 1-6. Hollis led Cantu with 16 points and Marco Lagana scored 13.

Antonio Graves paced Dragons with 15 points.

“The Dragons are a good team that is well coached,” Hollis said afterwards. “We tried to play the best defence we can. We tried to make them take difficult shots and in the end we found a way to pull out the win.”

Reggio Emila beat Paris Levallois 78-72 at home to improve its slight chances of progression to the Last 32.

The Italian side are now 2-5 in Group A, while Paris drop to 3-4 as they end their two-game winning run.

Achille Polonara led the winners with 24 points. Sharrod Ford controlled the paint for Paris with 21 points and 18 rebounds but it was not enough.
