Right, so it seems that Saras's wish has been fulfilled, but still isn't it a bit risky having only two PG's on the team? I guess a combo guard will be used as a go-between?

We have many options there...firstly as coach KemzÅ«ra told last year: "we will play with no point guard. All 1-3 position players can dribble the ball on the court, play scheme and pass the ball and we will use that" or smth like that. Last year we had only one point guard - Kalnietis, while shooting guard Delininkaitis played some minutes as PG too (and in my opinion, he played that very well bringing offensive aggressiveness)..also GeceviÄius can play few attacks as PG as he did in Lietuvos Rytas (got to mention that GeceviÄius plays 2x2 especially well)..besides that, KaukÄnas is good ball handler, times before had mission to play some schemes or dribble ball on all over the court. Other option we have - Seibutis. He played in Turkey not only as SG but as PG last season too and even was among players who have made the most assists.

Nice, it worked well enough at the World Championship, so why not now?

Yeah, KemzÅ«ra plans to do the same this year but in EuroBasket JasikeviÄius may play too - he's leader, he can play pick'n'roll very well so he should be useful. Other thing is his character...he always wants to be that number 1 in the team, he always orders what to do and things like that...his leadership abilities may help, but it can destroy team's chemistry too. Hard decision waits for KemzÅ«ra.

Two words: Linas Kleiza.
Kleiza was an absolute beast at the World Championship and Lithuania was able to run their offense through him. I'm not saying that a similar gameplan will fail at Eurobasket but they could get exposed with a lack of true PGs on the team and without Kleiza as their go-to weapon.

At least in this championship we will have centers who aren't injured <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=' ' /> that's a big plus for us <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=' ' />

What do you think about Kemzura's list of candidates? I wasn't surprised with any player with the exception of Jomantas. I mean, really? He was terrible this season. But even if he wasn't then he isn't NT material wnd will never be. Besides he is zero in offense. Of course just because he's invited to the training camp doesn't mean he'll make the final squad.

Couple more players surprised me. Gailius, Lukauskis. Also the absence of Klimavicius was a surprise, but I like it. Jomantas, Gailius and Kuzminskas are here because of problems with small forwards. Lukauskis? 2 position is sooooo deeeep, I don't know what he will do here, maybe they will try him as 3 in the camp?
I heard 14 men roster is not confirmed yet, but if it would, I would like to see such team on the paper:
Å aras, Kalnietis, Delininkaitis
KaukÄnas, GeceviÄius, Seibutis
Jasaitis, Pocius
K. Lavrinovic, Songaila, Jankunas
Javtokas, Petravicius, D. Lavrinovic
If Valanciunas or Motiejunas would prove their better than any named big from this roster, I would very gladly see them in the final roster.

That team looks really good. Who are the last two players cut if that is the roster? I'd guess Jankunas and Seibutis unless Pocius' health is still an issue.

Delininkaitis/Seibutis/D.LavrinoviÄ/GeceviÄius probably some of them. However, I would like to take Seibutis and GeceviÄius, they can be really useful.

Since Valanciunas is the future of the Lithuanian national team, I think that they need to find a way to get him on the Eurobasket roster. The experience would benefit him and the national team in the long-term.

Everyone is crazy about Valanciunas after WC, probably all people who only heard about him before saw his pure talent. However U19 is no Eurobasket <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=' ' /> Let's wait and see how ready is he to push around with Javtokas, PetraviÄius and other bigs. It will depend a lot on fiba's decision about the rosters. ValanÄiÅ«nas is a center. That means his direct competitors are Javtokas, PetraviÄius and maybe DarjuÅ¡. PetraviÄius is in very questionable shape. Basically, ValanÄiÅ«nas should prove he's better, KemzÅ«ra won't take him because of the future. He cut off MotiejÅ«nas in 2010 even though our front court had only 3 players - Javtokas, Kleiza and Jankunas.
Logically, he still needs one more year to be as tough as anyone in Europe. Subjectively, he's everyday improving player and you never know with that much talented player.

Would you say this is good or bad? I mean the rebuilding of the team already started last season and with Valalnciunas now ready to help, it would drop the average age ever further...
Respect and thanks for everything:
Alvertis, Bodiroga, Jasikevicius, Radja, Wilkins, Vrankovic, Fotsis, Rebraca, Kattash, Gentile, Koch, Middleton, Kutluay, Rogers, Papadopoulos, Becirovic, Tomasevic, Siskauskas, Pekovic, Lakovic, Vujanic, Chatzivrettas, Maljkovic, Spanoulis and many more to follow in the near future.

Black Urum, I found it as a very good news. We still need emotional leader. Kleiza filled that in 2010. Another thing, the same ValanÄiÅ«nas (and GeceviÄius) knows Å aras pretty well after Rytas' experience. And lastly, Å aras used to perform better in NT than in clubs at the second half of his career. I have a feeling we might see better Å aras than we saw in Rytas and Fener. And he still the master of pick and rolls. With our wealthy frontline...
About the rebuilding: don't you think it's not the best time? Our veterants are about to take a last shot and to get a ticket to Olympics and maybe even to win it all. Best players should play and our youngsters will have their time.

Gecevicius, Seibutis, Motiejunas were cut. IMO, it had to be Delininkaitis and Lukauskis and Motiejunas didn't look worse than Jankunas. Kemzura choosing experience again, hopefully he's right, but I'm highly disappointed.
