2010/11 season signings and rumours

Untill is not official, I'll wait.

Something looks strange here.

Why? He gets more money than PAO and Olympiacos offered (1.2 euros a year) when Malaga offered 1.3 per year. He gets to play in Malaga, which is nicer than Athens. He gets to play in the ACB which is a better league than the A1.

He will have no competition for playing time and will without doubt be the starting point guard and probably play 25-30 minutes. In PAO and Olympiacos he might get 15-20 minutes of playing time.

It makes much more sense for him to go to Malaga IMO.

I don't think that Malga realy offer him 1.3, due to a new tax rule over non-Europian players and their budget reduce.

It's only an agent game to make Pao rush to sign him. at mid-night (CET), he will continue in Siena.

Well the best case scenario for him IMO is to stay in Siena. Less money at 1.0 per season but Siena will be really strong next year.

PG McIntyre/Zisis

SG Aradori/Hawkins

SF Sato/Moss

PF Lavrinovic/Stonerook

C Rakociv/Traore

If they do keep McIntyre then for sure I think Sato will stay (and they are offering as much or more to Sato than any other team is. With that kind of roster next season they can compete for the Euroleague championship. They never had a roster close to that good before.

One thing to keep in mind when talking about new taxes in Spain is to remember the new taxes in Greece, which are far WORSE.

45% tax for all players that make over 100,000 euros per season. 13k euros tax for all players that make over 100,000 per season.

80% tax for all players that make over 1 million euros per season.

85% tax for all players that make over 2 million euros per season.

For example, sport24 reported that at 2.4 per season Spanoulis would cost 13.32 million euros with the new taxes (not even counting the agent fees).

Big Sofo about to sign with the Clippers. 3 years and $8 million (gross).
Another Greek source says the same thing..........McIntyre signed with Malaga (2 years 2.6).

http://www.sport-fm.gr/article/280815

Childress is likely to stay in Olympiacos and that they are not actually interested in Sato.

http://www.sport.gr/default.asp?pid=4&aid=68305

Spanoulis to Olympiacos (highest paid player in Europe) almost done according to this:

http://www.redplanet.gr/html/ent/070/ent.271070.asp

Looks like Saras will stay in PAO.
mcintyre is not a done deal. have a look at this

Spanoulis is the catalyst and the whole situation could take its final turn tomorrow

I i had to guess about how this turns out, i would say Oly announces Ivkovic tomorrow, Pao gives Spanoulis an ultimatum for tomorrow or the day after. Spanoulis signs for oly tomorrow or the day after, Siena matches Unicaja's offer and sells the player to Pao. Pao announce McIntyre during the weekend or Monday.

Well if PAO is only offering 1.5 million per season for 2 years as rumored and Siena can match then why would Siena not match it? They already pay that much to Lavrinovic and they offered the same to Sato. I am sure they will match that offer. 250k buyout does not give them any incentive at all to sell him to PAO.

Also, if his manager is playing a game like signing for Malaga before his buyout deadline and then refusing to abide and honor it...........

then he will definitely not be playing in PAO next year. FIBA will step in and order him to go to Malaga or he will be banned from playing. Just remember the Jumaine Jones case last year.
Hendrix is in maccabi does that mean no macvan they giving up on him?
Nikola Pekovic signed with the Wolves. 3 years $13 million (gross).

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=5344931
What is up with the Pekovic PAO crisis article on the front page? lol

http://www.talkbasket.net/news/pao-loses...-3271.html

That's unbelievable. Like PAO died or something. Come on talkbasket that article is ridiculous. All PAO has to do is sign Mavroeidis, Kaimakoglou and another guard. It does not have to be Mcintyre either. It can be any good American guard like for example Jamon Lucas even and they will be fine.

Pekovic was never even that important to PAO. Obradovic won't leave PAO and Saras won't leave if Spanoulis does in fact go because he will get more playing time. If money is such an issue they can easily loan out Verginis and Bogris to another club and get some money.

PG Diamantidis/1.5-2 million free agent/Calathes

SG Nicholas/Jasikevicius

SF Perperoglou/Tepic

PF Fotsis/Kaimakoglou/Tsartaris

C Mavroeidis/Batiste/Shermandini

The SF spot is still kind of questionable but other than that, they would just need a good backup point guard and they still would have a roster as strong as any team in Europe, a roster that most clubs would just dream about and stronger than their 2007 roster that won the triple. And if it is all about money, well Mavroeidis and Kaimakoglou will be a hell of a lot cheaper than Spanoulis and Pekovic were. I don't see the least bit of reason to worry about PAO.

Look at all the Greek players still on the market like Mavroeidis, Vougioukas, Vasileiadis, Kaimakoglou - now if all of these guys sign somewhere else then yeah, maybe something is wrong with PAO. But as of right now that article sounds like pure bull shit to me.
