2nd Group Stage - Day 2
#61
GROUP E SCENARIOS seem to go like this:

anything is possible.

for 1-2 places france and spain will compete. the winner is 1st, the loser 2nd

the rest will play for 3-4.

Lets take all odds

first case

Lithuania wins => ends up 3rd

Turkey wins=> ends up 4th

2nd case

Lithuania wins => ends up 3rd

Serbia wins=> ends up 4th

3rd case

Germany wins, Turkey wins

Germany 3rd, Lithuania 4th

4th case

Germany wins , Serbia wins

triple equality for Serbs, Lithuanians & Germans

up to now we have , Serbia - Germany +11, Lithouania - Serbia +10

so

Serbs are on +1 aggregate

and Lithuanians can afford to lose up to 10 pts.

Germany wins by 1 to 9 pts

Lithuania +1 or more, Serbia +1, Germany -2 or more

and

Lithuania 3rd, Serbia 4th

So if Germany wins by 10 pts we have

Serbia +1, Lithuania 0, Germany -1 so Serbs 3rd, Lithuanians 4th

if germany wins by 11 or 12 pts

Serbs +1 , Germans 0 or +1 , Lithuanians -1 or -2 so Serbs are 3rd and Germans 4th

and last (sub)case

germans win by 13 or more

Germany +2 or more, Serbs +1 , Lithuanians - 3 or more

and Germany 3rd, Serbia 4th
I think yesterdays scores were good for turkey, because now turkey and lithuania are also wounded to play their best, grmany and serbia's death match mental superiority is nullified. Now I believe turkey will win , I think serbia is better but turkish gear (a kind of situation that turks come to edge of survival or death, we unexpectedly do extras, tkhis is not gloating we do strange jobs when we face our doom) will work this time. And lithuania's dangerous posiion will force them to do their best.

However if I weren't trkish I would want germany to qualify, they are so gentle and organized as a team , I watched nowitzki's interview after the match, his humble and mature style really impressed me, and yesterdays team play for them for the times they had noitzki at the bench has proven that they are a real team. It was a most deserved game for them. We?? If only we can shoot a little better against serbia.

Not saying that will be the case, but, this is perfect opportunity to c where r we standing at the moment...

WTF FYROM beat Slovenia 68-59?! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Blink' />

Top scorer for FYROM was once more McCalebb <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Rolleyes' />

He didn't have half the team points this time, only 19 this time round.

I can't believe this for Slovenia? Once more they are underachieving in the tournament.

After Slovenia - FYROM game we watched, one question comes into my(and not only mine, I think) mind: Is FYROM that good or Slovenia is that bad?! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/huh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Huh' />

If you are STILL questioning how good FYROM is, you're probably biased. They have only wins and 1 defeat in overtime, so far anyway.
Respect and thanks for everything:

Alvertis, Bodiroga, Jasikevicius, Radja, Wilkins, Vrankovic, Fotsis, Rebraca, Kattash, Gentile, Koch, Middleton, Kutluay, Rogers, Papadopoulos, Becirovic, Tomasevic, Siskauskas, Pekovic, Lakovic, Vujanic, Chatzivrettas, Maljkovic, Spanoulis and many more to follow in the near future.

So far they won bad teams.

They won Greece(I don't know if anyone thinks that this could happen again) and Slovenia(they had the worst performance I have seen in a long time).

You may think that Russia is better than Spain because they haven't lost yet.

That not means is true.

...and NO, I'm not biased.

1)We had terrible FG% and on the other hand Russia scored with every possible way(good for them!). <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

2)Congratulations to Russia! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' /> <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I bet some of you are not laughing about Russia now... I wish Greek players had Kirilenko attitude.

That win means nothing about Russias' level.

They played against a team with no plan because of Zouros. <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thudown.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Russia may not be a team at winner level. But they played easy games, so they were less frayed than the teams at Group E. So if Russia can beat FYROM(I think they will) most probably they will be at semi finals. But I don't think they can play at the final.

Well that was humbling from the Russians, we got defeated fair and square, our team just not experienced enough to battle against the Russians. We kept it up for one half, but our plays then degraded in effectiveness...

Still we have an easy game coming up with Georgia, and that'll see us through to the top 8

Final score: 67-83 for Russia.

We have an average to good team so let's be honest. We didn't stick to our trademarked defensive game today, and we paid the price. We played to their game, and made some of their average players look good. I think Zouros tried some experimentation during the last quarter to see some reaction, and failed. We'll probably end up playing France in the QF. We don't want cocky Spain at this stage, because we're not good enough to beat them. Maybe this loss came at the right time, because personally I think we can step up with France, as we have nothing to lose. The pressure is on them and not us. FYROM!! Well the surprise of the tournament has me baffled, but sooner or later they're going to hit the floor with a major thump. Anyway, let's focus on Georgia now, and not other teams. Cheers!!

You will get FYROM dude, provided Russia doesn't slack off. Germany is an average team, with Nowitzki a good team, and that's about the equation. You'll defeat them with ease. I also predict you'll thump the FYROM by 20+.. And game over for this team..

Is almost for sure that something happend between Zouros and Bourousis that had as a result Bourousis' absence from the whole 2nd half. <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mellow.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Mellow' />

Zouros was asked about that from a foreign journalist and he said that is something between them.

Well, that's the last thing we need now.

I would be very pleased if had an issue with Xanthopoulos and Kaimakoglou, that would be good!!! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rofl3.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Rofl3' /> <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rofl3.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Rofl3' /> <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rofl3.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Rofl3' />

We meet each other every year starting from Mundobasket final in 2006.

In 2007 we matched twice!

We lost every single game, so it's not the best for us to meet them!!! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thudown.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
