It's very ugly injury... Last Euroleague game, last seconds and season is over... But El-Amin is a strong man, i think he health injury and continue Euroleague experience.

Seems like another non passing American player...I really would like to see some smart, pure point guard playing in Rytas (teaching Valančiūnas some things). Now obviously will see another El- Amin and probably worse.

You must be joking <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Blink' /> Collins last season in NCAA averaged 5 assist per game. The biggest weakness of this player is defense and turnovers.

I really hope I'm wrong at this point. It would be great if he's really able to pass. NCAA stats could not mean a lot here though as the rules of the game are different than in Euroleague. It will be clear when we see him.

Maybe American fellas would have few words about Sherron Collins?
I don't know why people cite NCAA stats as a reliable measure. NCAA is like youth leagues in Europe... it's not real grown up mens league...

That's also another argument <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Agree <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
To entirely discount NCAA statistics is illogical. True It is a lower level of competion BUT is someone is averaging 4 - 5 assist a season this means the guy can pass. That is a simple fact. he "can" pass. Now can Collins do this at a higher level of competition becomes the next question. To answer that question you have to look deeper into his body of work. This is what I know of Sharron Collins:

Sharron Collins

He attended historic Kansas University. Known for being a school for excellent coaching and good fundementals.

Freshman year:He averaged 22.3 minutes and 9.3 points per game. He led Kansas in scoring five times and in assists on 12 occasions.(he's a passer)

Sophmore year: 2008 national championship, averaging 8.3 points and 3.8 assists in the NCAA tournament.(he's a winner in a good system)

Junior Year:All the starters from the previous year graduated or went to NBA. Collins led the 2008–09 Jayhawks in points, minutes, assists and free-throw percentage. (He's a leader)

Senior year: Yep he played for 4 years. He recieved many awards for his colllge career achivements. He became a better scorer and his assits per season went up. (He can be coached)

Summary:

PLUS/GOOD:

This is what we know. He's from Chicago so he played at an elite high School level. Sharron Collins is a national champion that was coached for 4 years by Bill Self and Danny Ainge. He can lead a team. His passing/assists stats increased consistantly throughout his college career. Meaning he is a passer for all for years of his career. There is no reason to think that Collins will not pass. He has did it at his entire career. I am Ignornat of how many people watch Euroleague or how many fans of Rytas exist. Collins played on maybe the biggest stage of American colligate basketball. NCAA tornament is very big and well sponsered. Kansas University is the most historic basketball program in the world bar none. Kansas has one of the largest/most loyal fanbases of any institution anywhere in the states. Population of Kansas is about 3 million and most of them are Jayhawk(Kansas) fans. My point is he played and won a championship under great pressure. He can take pressure on the highest stage

+Ball handling A+

+37% 3 point

+47% 2point

+4+ assists

+86% Free Throws (he gets to the line alot and makes them)

+Averaged 34 minutes per game Junior and Senior year

BAD/MINUS

He only has second tier athlecism. For example his "athletic ability" is similar to Steve Nash, Jason Kidd. He is below Derrick Rose or Russell Westbrook.

Injuries: He has had left knee problems

QUESTIONABLE/???

Stuff we dont know:

Can he adjust to a different culture? not sure

Can he adjust to a different enviorment? not sure

Can he adjust to the style of game? probably still not sure.

He is young with little professional experience BUT shows promise and willing to learn. Will Rytas coaches be patient and help him grow?
I think he would good addition and I thought like that at the start. By the way, in Europe, 3 point line is little more far than in NCAA so that may not be good.

However, it's still question, will he play for Rytas or not...

And...Rytas needs results right now...contract would be till the end of season - if he does good, then teams with more money would buy him, in other case, Rytas just won't need him more.
Trifunovic wants to bring Aleksandar Rasic next season.According to Serbian newspapers.
Next year or now?
This year...he should come here and play until 2012 summer. That's good news. Bad news: Trifunovič is still coach of Lietuvos Rytas...
Rasic is new player of Rytas.According to Serbian news. And he will play until end of next season.
Finally solid (even good) European player! But hopefully Trif is gone as soon as possible... <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/angry.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Angry' />
Finally Trifunovic is out, Maskoliunas as the new head coach!
Bad bad news. I think, that Maskoliunas is bad coach. Yes, he have good results with "Kaunas", but "Lietuvos Rytas" is Euroleague team and Maskoliunas not ready for this

Bad? He can't be worse than Trifunovič anyway. And I'm pretty sure that with him as head coach, Lithuanians will get more time. I think even my mom wouldn't be worse than Trifunovič <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' />

Trifunovič lead "Lietuvos Rytas" to Euroleague TOP-16 - its fact and great result. Yes, in Baltic league very failed, but VEF this season is very solid, so that result not really surprised me.

Rasič feeling better and better, so "Lietuvos Rytas" form would have been better in future, i think... What's you expected from team, with one point guard, which is with team just one week? More point guards Vilnius team don't have..

I think Trifunovič is better coach when Maskoliūnas..

From which planet did you came? <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Unsure' /> Performance in Euroleague was result of Jasikevičius, El-Amin and enormous motivation for all the rest. I saw that Trifunovič did good work only in two Euroleague games, others are...just...how to say it nice...spectacular? <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' /> C'mon, you must be joking...even Bertans said in interview that it wasn't really hard to play defense against Lietuvos Rytas because they always play the same...make conclusions on your own...and..what does point guard's problem has to do with not making open shots and playing shitty defense?
