Weirdos

According to Krepsinis.net, the negotiations between Rytas and Trifunovic have already started. The first two coaches on the list sound unrealistic to me even though either of them would be great. Butautas? He would make Jomantas the main player of the team.
So, Trifunivič and Maskoliūnas will try to clean the mess. Some other rumours say that Nalga and Newley is not demonstrating what the club expects so they might be released. I doubt they will release Newley while he can really play better and will play better, IMO. But the solution to let go Nalga would be just reasonable. It's strange to say that, but Baynes are two time player that Nalga.
Nalga should be replaced by another player instantly. If I were to make a decision I would also get rid of Milosevic.

Yeah, I think another pure point guard needed instead of Miloševič. Obviously Johnson will hardly produce such energy in offense as Popovič or Price did. Miloševič is just a streetballer with inconsistent shot selection.
Has anyone watched Sport 1 (Romanov's channel) news today? Even though they always are extremely pro-Žalgiris and extremely anti-Rytas but their reaction to Maskoliūnas's was surprising. I guess I shouldn't post this in this thread but anyway, I haven't seen such poor 'journalism' in a long time. Of course the journalists say what the owner tells them to say. But after all Sport 1 is supposed to be a sports channel, not the channel of one man or one team. They could at least pretend to objective. Some quotes from today's news report:

"Romanov revealed the real face of Maskoliūnas during LKL finals"

"Finally Maskoliūnas will be working for the team of his dreams - Lietuvos Rytas"

"BBL vice champions Lietuvos Rytas..." (that's the only domestic title that they didn't win last season)

And if that isn't enough the main point of the report was 'supported' by user comments taken from various websites. They involved some nasty language (no swearing though). The comments were not only displayed on TV in high resolution but also they were read aloud by the journalists. They even tried to express the intonation by those commentators.

Lrytas.lt used to write some subjective comments regards Žalgiris too. It's no secret but I haven't seen them going that low. Watching the news on Sport 1 was like watching some propaganda channel.

All this nonsense aside, the fight between the big two Lithuanian clubs will be even fiercer this season.
It's all Russia's fault, let's face it.

What has Russia to do with this other than that Romanov is Russian? It's just the methods that Romanov thinks are right to 'fight' against his enemies. That's all. There was a similar report in the past about Žalgiris Vilnius (football club) and Lithuanian national football team since Romanov is conflict with the league and the federation. At first I laughed because I never saw something like that on TV and done seriously. I'd prefer if he did his thing on the court by signing better players and increased the budget of Žalgiris, just as he did this year. If the whole fight between the clubs was only in that area it would benefit Lithuanian basketball a lot.
I was being sarcastic, usually Lithuanians blame everything wrong on Russia.
I totally agree, Vilius, that was so pathetic <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' /> Actually, it do have common sense with Russia, communist Russia and their propaganda - I wouldn't be surprised Romanov is the specialist of these times political methods <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Sport 1 has become a pure puppy of Žalgiris management, I mean Romanov. The guy thinks that there's only idiots around and some random nonsense he will pronounce will make Žalgiris' fans clap their hands. I guess soon he will call him self A BIG BROTHER and randomly fire team members by accusing them with THOUGHTCRIME. The problem is that some fans actually believe that bullshit he speaks. "Lithuania has been robbed again"...LOL
I like it how naive and idealistic Lithuania (still) are. (for now)

In Greece each team has like newspapers, channels, websites like these for the past few decades and they oftenly use weapons, drugs, sexual symbols to humiliate their opponents. And most people enjoy it. <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/crazy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Crazy' />

Like quoting 5-8 internet posters on tv screen:

"Ramonov was right, Maskoliunas is traitor "

"So Romanov was right...bla bla bla"

"So basically Romanov did a good job..."

And so on...

If that usually happens in Greece, It's Greece that is naive I'm afraid <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />
Wow, I have been offline all weekend and I come back online to see that Rytas signed Trifunovic!?! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/agree.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Agree' /> <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/agree.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Agree' /> <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/agree.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Agree' />

I am elated! I never thought that they would bring him back! They should have never gotten rid of him, this is fantastic!

Now that I've gotten one wish, it is time to press my luck... what is Bojan Popovic up to?
Popovič would be great for Rytas, but JV said that they won't buy any players for now. He said there's little possibility to do that in the future.

Anyway, Trifunovic is a really good coach. Rytas was close to top 8 in Euroleague that season. Will be very interesting to see how he'll build this team.

Maybe I didn't make myself clear.

I meant naive as in innocent and pure to the extent that such incidents shock people there.

While the opposite happens here, cynicism and corruption, the worst is to be expected.
Anyone knows how serious is Johnson's injury? Will he make the EL premiere?

Out for 6-7 weeks.
BTW, Šaras and Gecevičius in one fucking team would be something too amazing for be <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Rolleyes' /> Both can shoot, both plays perfect P&R and the best thing the young guy would learn a lot from Šaras. While Škele doesn't make sense at all...He's not even a point guard.
I don't care anymore where Saras will sign, I just want to see him play!!! Please sign somewhere!!! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mellow.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Mellow' />
I've lost a last believe in this team this week <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bag.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Bag' /> Half of the team should be kicked out literally.

Nalga and Milosevic in the first line...

Than Bajramovic...the guy is playing like nuts against some scrubs in LKL, but he always fail when it matter. He should be the key player, but every single game in Euroleague he's lost and confused. Jomantas and Newley are making a good laugh and the latter had to be the leader. What the hell is wrong with that guy?

Now, leaving one and only Valančiūnas against Euroleague bigs? <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' /> How pathetic is that? (Well the good thing he's getting experience and hopefully won't be Ilgauskas No.2, having in mind NT history).

Rytas is a strong team when they all stick together (just like last two seasons) and currently they are one of the worst organised teams in Euroleague.
