I have heard a new name that could be the new point guard of Cibona: Blake Ahearn. In college he was a scoring point guard but when he turned pro he became a pass-first point guard, he's averiging 6.3 assists per game. He is a good point guard but I think that Cibona can get a better point guard. Scottie Reynolds would also be a good option, or Antonio Anderson or Tweety Carter. But maybe they can find a good Croatian point guard, that would be great. Maybe they can find a young guard but who already has a little bit of experience. But If they find a very good american point guard it would also be good
I have heard and read the following rumor

Efes Pilsen Istanbul forced to change name

Turkey regulatory agency for the spirits and tobacco products (TAPDK) banned advertising of such products. By the end of this year Efes Pilsen will have to change its name. Turkish team was established in 1976 and won 13 national titles and Korac cup. Efes beer factory did not say anything about how this law will effect their relationship with the club. Also they are official sponsors of Euroleague and rumors say that company wants to have a team in Euroleague with their name. Company is interested in Cibona Zagreb but there were no serious dialogues between company and team yet.

It would be good for Cibona is they can get Efes Pilsen as a sponsor. They would get extra money and with this money they could pay their debts even more and this would also be good because there would also extra money for new players that could improve the team and help them win more games. But the most important thing is that the debts will be paid. I don't know it this rumor or news is true so we'll have to wait and see what will happen in the next days or weeks. It would be good for them but if it doesn't happen I hope the new management will to what they have promised
Josip Sesar again in Cibona?

The training Cibona on Friday night, the last time in Siroki Brijeg, appeared to be a familiar name

However, there was no question in American reinforcements requested by new coach Drazen Anzulovic than a former player for this club - Josip Sesar! Surprisingly, on Friday the former Cibona player did a training with the rest of the team Cibona.

Although 33-year-old has not played an active Sesar basketball since spring of 2009. when you grew up with Zrinjski Mostar, Anzulović was pleased after practice.

"Looks good, but it will not even register. Priority to me is still bringing two Americans, but Sesar we will in any case to help in training. We'll see how it will be with him to develop the situation and depending on how we register it, "he said Anzulović for Sport.

"The agreement with the President Zulom Lovric was to try to help. We will train the next month to assess what remains, "explained Sesar his appearance at Cibona training.

One of the greatest Croatian talents in Cibona was two times, and the last time when he was just practicing Anzulović.

Having long been accepted without gaming engagement is the first role of the director, then a coach at Zagreb Zrinjevcu with that pretty well pushed into the Croatian A-2 league center.

Experienced Sesar knows what the situation in Cibona, but the money he is obviously not the highest motive, since it is now played - Zagreb's amateur league.

He could help them with his experience but he'll only help them if he is fit and if he still can play. He was a good player but I don't know if he's still good after his retirement. We'll have to wait and see if he's still good enough.
Siroki TT - Cibona 81-82

There was a surprise result when twelfth ranked Croatian Cibona (6-9) edged 4th placed Bosnian Siroki TT Kabeli (8-7) in Siroki Brijeg 82-81 on Sunday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Siroki TT Kabeli won third quarter 24-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Cibona won last quarter 21-21. They made 25-of-32 free shots (78.1 percent) during the game. Siroki TT Kabeli was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for center Leon Radosevic who saved his team from a defeat with 15 points and 6 rebounds. Power forward Tomislav Zubcic contributed with 12 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Gordan Giricek scored 16 points, grabed two rebounds and dished out two assists. Croatian power forward Ivan Grgat answered with 16 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and Croatian power forward Sime Spralja added 11 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Siroki TT Kabeli. Five Cibona and four Siroki TT Kabeli players scored in double figures. Siroki TT Kabeli's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Defending Croatian champion moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Igokea.Cibona's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Zagreb Cedevita.

Cibona - Cedevita 73-71

Interesting game was the derby match of two local teams from Zagreb: Cibona (#12) and Cedevita (#7). Despite it looked like an easy game for Cibona, those rules do not exist in derby games. It's more the case of honor for local supporters and such games have that special and unique approach you cannot find in other games. How else can you describe just 2 points victory of Cibona 73-71. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Cedevita won third quarter 18-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a very good performance for Bosnian-Croatian swingman Bojan Bogdanovic who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 7 rebounds. Center Leon Radosevic contributed with 18 points for the winners. Cibona's coach Drazen Anzulovic used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American power forward Corsley Edwards replied with 36 points and 8 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Dontaye Draper added 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Cedevita. Defending Croatian champion (7-9) moved-up to ninth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Cedevita lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth position with eight games lost. Cibona will face league's leader Union Olimpija in Ljubljana in the next round

Cibona still alive... beating Olimpija away 75-84
They are backing on top.
They are playing better and better. They will win more games. They will be back, more good things will happen
i want them to keep bogdanovic and radosevic, so i will have a couple of standards in next year's fantasy challenge <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/crazy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Crazy' />
The new management of Cibona will do everything in their power to keep Bogdanovic and Radosevic at the club. They're also going to talk with Radosevic about an contract extension

Yes, i know, but the situation is still too unstable in the club
An up-date on Cibona

Everybody of the management is working on reinforcements for the club. They have already talked with the top two players that were on their list but both players have rejected the offers that Cibona have made to them. It were players that are under contract with their clubs and Cibona could not financially compete with their current salaries. The New Coach of Cibona Drazen Anzulovic has said this to the media.

He said that he and the athletic director and the other members of the club are working really hard to get good reinforcements for the club. But thus far they haven’t had a lot of success.

Coach Anzulovic and the staff have been searching for the best players to reinforce Cibona but they haven’t seen the right quality players yet. At this point they have some names on their list that they are going to check, it are players that have Euroleague potential.

He said that at his points, because of the fact that Cibona is trying to pay of their large debts, it’s not possible to financially compete with their contracts that some players have at their clubs, and the players, especially Americans, are very sensitive to these dollar amounts.

Drazen Anzulovic has admitted in the interview that he’s looking for players that Cibona could help right away. He isn’t looking for players on long-term but this is at the moment. First he wants to win more games and reach something with Cibona this year and when the season ends they will look for players that could stay at Cibona on the long-term.They first want to go to agreements with the players(they’re interested in) for the rest of the season to see how well they have adapted to the team and to see their actual potential.

But there is also some good news Marin Rozic is back after a long period of injury. He could give them a energy boost of the bench when he gets back in his playing rhythm. Cibona has also offered a contract to a dark-skinned American, who have already played in Europe, but they are waiting for feedback from him and his manager. There is also the rumor that Cibona is interested in its former player Andrija Žižić. Andrija Žižić is a Croatian PF/C who could help Cibona’s frontcourt. But Coach Anzulovic denied this rumor. He said that neither he or somebody else from the club has talked to Andrija Žižić. But sources are saying that they will go and talk with him because he’s a experienced player and he could help them a lot.

Other news was the appearance of former starplayer Josip Sesar to the practices of Cibona.

He attended the practices regularly Cibona's practices and is negotiating his potential comeback with the Cibona’s management.

Josip Sesar said the following in an interview: “ I spoke with Team President Lovric and Head Coach Anzulovic and I have decided that I would stay in the training regime with Cibona for the next 20-30 days, until coach Anzulovic decides whether he needs me in his rotation. I did not play organized basketball all of the last season, but I stayed in the training regime. I am 32-years old and I consider my self young enough to still play at this level”

His eventual comeback would somewhat improve Cibona's depth chart. He could substantial scoring punch off the bench (alike Giricek). However, Cibona's deepest current need comes at the point guard position. Cibona Zagreb was seriously considering 2008 NBDL Rookie of the year Blake Ahearn as a potential solution to it's point guard woes. Cibona's Sports Director Mihovil Nakic has already seen 26-year old Ahearn in action 15 months ago: "I have watched Ahearn with coach Perasovic in the 2009 NBA Summer League. He is a good player being more of a shooting guard than point guard. We would consider using his services if we agree with him about financial terms and if coach Anzulovic finds the right way to get the best out of his potential."

On Tuesday 11 January 2011, President Lovric told exclusive new to the press that on Wednesday an American playmaker from the NBDL league could land in Zagreb. There is another news on the block: Cibona signed Terrell Everett to a one-month contract. He will first go through a testing period before Cibona will decided whether he will get a contract until the end of the season. He’s the player that Cibona offered a contract to. He has played for 8 teams in Europe and NBDL.

Cibona will keep on looking for new players and they will continue to talk with the players they are interested in. Hopefully they’ll have success getting the players they want so that Cibona improves and can win more games.

There is also other good news about Cibona. The new management has achieved something great. Before the new management took over, Cibona had 11 million euros debts but now it has decreased. At the moment Cibona has 6 million euros debts. This is good work from the new management. They are doing everything they can to make sure that Cibona will pay of all their debts. They will continue paying the debts and the management will keep on looking for reinforcements.

The latest move of the new management is reportedly appointing the club's legend Niksa Prkacin to take over several activities which belong to the domain of the Director of Basketball Operations. Prkacin was just about to return to Turkey in order to revitalize Efes Pilsen's second team, both as a player and a coach. But after he received a call from Cibona he made a decision to stay in Zagreb.

Cibona's GM Zdenko Antunovic made a brief description of Prkacin's future activities:

"Niksa Prkacin will be the director of Cibona's youth program, which is currently almost non-existing and which should be the most important segment for any serious ball club. Therefore, we have decided to delegate this job into the hands of club's legend and Croatian NT ex-captain.

Apart from reorganizing our youth program Niksa will take part in the process of making other crucial decisions such as player transactions, communication with managers and other similar activities. The function which will be covered by Prkacin is extremely vital to us."

Niksa Prkacin released the following statement: "This is my first working day. I came to help my club and that is basically it."

Brad Buckman was on a try-out this week with Cibona. Coach Drazen Anzulovic said he will suggest to the club board to sign him. Andrija Zizic could leave ASVEL Villeurbanne and this feeds the rumors even more that he could return to Cibona

More news on reinformcement will come in the next days or weeks.
There are some rumors flying around that Cibona Zagreb is interested in bringing Marque Perry from Olimpija Ljubljana. Coach Anzulovic is very interested in him. Marque Perry doesn't play a lot for Olimpija Ljubljana. He has first rejected the offer because he doesn't know if Cibona can pay him. But according to the rumors he has changed his mind and he would want to go to Cibona
They wanted him before, I guess now it's the time to get him. Not worth it of course imo...
There are much better point guards than Perry in the NBDL but I think that Cibona can't afford them
Quote:Cibona announced they will finish the season only with domestic players. The team is in difficult financial situation and they decided to end 2010/11 without foreigners. There was many rumors about the Americans which Cibona targeted during the month, but it seems they will not bring any of them. Cibona will try to sign some of the Croatian free agents in the coming days.Says Drazen Anzulovic coach of Cibona.
