That's very good news. Hopelfully they will get better now and return to there best form. Will there be players that will be sold? Will new players come?
It seems that it is still pretty unclear how they will fix this situation and save Cibona. I believe that the most important thing is to SAVE Cibona. Will they sell some players, find strong sponsors, sell some of shopping places in Drazen Petrovic arena or find any other solution, for me it doesn't really matter.
I don't see why people are so obsessed with saving old clubs...
Welcome to open free market, you do things right, you exist. You manage the club poorly, you go away and so does the club. This will make clubs to reconsider their policies in the future and make them more realistic...
Because right now only a handful of teams in Europe have balanced sheets. Like Maccabi, Baskonia, Siena etc...
So if Cibona stops existing tomorrow... what is the worst things to happen? Zagreb and Cedevita will take over Cibona's role... young Croats will play there, but will actually get paid, they will be debt-free clubs with wealthy sponsors etc...
Cibona have signed veteran Croatian star Gordan Giricek, who could make his debut against Partizan in a a few days.
Giricek signed a contract until the end of season. The 33 year old is returning to Cibona after nine years. He was a "Ciboci" form 1993 to 2001 in the start of his career, before moving to CSKA Moscow and later on making the jump to NBA.
The signing was made possible after a new administration, led by the City of Zagreb, took over the club. Their aim is to liquidate a percentage of the commercial holdings Cibona owns around the arena and with that money repay old debts and reinforce the squad with quality signings.
Giricek could make his debut even on next Tueasday, when Cibona takes on Partizan for the Adriatic League 13th round. The projected salary of the player is around 40K euros per month.
Cibona also signed Ante Krapic from Zabok. He averged 17.6 points and 9.4 rebounds.
These are great transfers for Cibona. Cibona is also looking for an american point guard. They are talking with a young talented point guard out of the Development League. But first of all, I find it good that the city of zagreb wants to sell some of the commercial holdings so that they can repay the old debts so Cibona that keep on excisting. They will buy good players but won't overpay them
Cibona lost from a very good Partizan team last night. Bogdanovic's 3-pointshot didn't fall. He tried to get them back but he couldn't do it. He tried to be the leader, like he was the last games. Zubcic played a good game. Newcomer Krapic didn't play bad but he has to improve his freethrow-shooting( and his 3-point shooting). He didn't take a lot of shots and didn't create a lot of room for his shot. In my opinion his teammates didn't gave him the ball enough. Radosevic played very selfish, his shot didn't fall and his was going for his own success but it didn't work.
Gordan Giricek played a good first game, he showed leadership on and of the court. He will improve every game, he is a great signing for the club. But he will need some time to adjust, just like Krapic. They need time to get to know their new teammates. Cibona has to play like a team and not every player has to go for his own success. If they play like a team, the wins will come. I still have hope that they'll play good this season.
I'm glad with the new managment and it's a very good step into the future. The city of Zagreb will lead Cibona very good and Cibona will get back to his best.
New signings will also come. I have heard that Cibona wants to sign young talented Croatian players and there is also interesed in some experienced Croatian players. I have heard a lot of names but anybody of you guys have heard the rumors about Cibona and new Croatian players.
The players that I have heard are Prostan,Batur and Saric as the young guys. And from experienced guys I have heard the name of Zoric.
Coach Radulovic also wants new Ameican players, he wants a new point-guard(maybe as back-up for Stipcevic or as the new starter). He wants young american players who haven't played in Europe because they bring another type of energy. They are talking with players out of the NBA Development League.
Does anybody of you heard which players it could be? The names that I have heard are Tweety Carter and Scottie Reynolds.
Cibona needs good guards that can give advanced on the field.
That's right and I think that they will find some good guards. They have a very talented team and the present young guards only need time to develop. In the future Cibona will be back one of the best teams. They have great youth teams and many talents will grow up to be stars

Cibona needs to get a class PG... Stipcevic is too dumb, slow and short to be running the point of a (x) Euroleague club...

Cibona needs time to get back and they need a good managment and now they have it. First they need to pay the debts and than get some good players( not to overpay them) and then the results will come. They have a talented but unexperienced team. They will become better, the more the young guys play

If find it very sad to see that they let Radulovic go. He's a great coach but he needs time to make the team better and play like a team and not like individuals. He would have made them better but now he doesn't get the chance anymore to prove it.
I know Drazen Anzulovic because he coaches Spirou Charleroi in my country Belgium. He won two titles and one national cup with them. Many people said that he was a great coach but every coach is great if you win games. I left because he wanted to go to a bigger league but eventually he chose for the money BC Donetsk, but this club had to high debts and went bankrupt. I know he moved to Rytas but was fired there.
I would prefer Radulovic above Anzulovic. I'll miss Radulovic as the headcoach of Cibona, I wish him the best in the future and that he may train a very good club. And I hope that on one day he'll be headcoach again of Cibona.
I wish Anzulovic good luck with Cibona, I hope they win a lot and I hope that the debts still will be paid and that they find good players to give the club a quality injection.
I also keep on hearing new names who could be the next point guard.

Expected decision to change coach. Maybe Radulovic did good job, but results was disaster. Of course, it wasn't only his mistake, whole situation in and around Cibona in last several months caused those bad results. But, as usual, coach is the first who have to leave. Personally, I like Anzulovic as a coach, but at this moment I am not sure what he can do better. Situation will change a bit if they engage point guard or maybe few other players. We will see.
Maybe Anzulovic will turn it around. We have to wait and see what his rotation will be. The question is: will he want new players and which players does he want?
They need a new pointguard( they can use Stipcevic as a back-up) and they need an experienced bigman. But most of al they need the play like a team, make good shotselection, pass the ball, give all what you got! They need to fight for every possession.
Giricek will be a leader in this team and the "Young Guns" and the other guys should listen to him. He has experience and can help them develop much better
Maybe they can add Ivan Batur, he's a young talent but he's a great player. He's playing good with Zadar
I have heard the following things:
The new management and the coach are currently in the process of interviewing present players and they are also in the process of negotiating with some potential free agent solutions but reportedly without any success.
Cibona is extremely interested in any potential prospect but all the top prospects in Croatia have been already signed (some with very lucrative deals) because teams are more and more aware of the existing talent base. They were( and stil are) interessed in Batur,Saric and others prospect but their teams have signed them to great deals or they don't want to let them go. Cibona will try to get even more talent.
Anzulovic is interested to find a strong defender, who can give the ball away and hit eventual open shot when someone is double-teamed,on a free agent market but he is not the only one making calls on that subject. They also need a proven inside player to battle opponent centers - their interior defence is weak right now. they have Jure Lalic who is good but they can use some help under the basket
We will have to wait and see with what Cibona comes up with. They probably will let some players like Filipovic,Rozic and Vrbanc go and get better players who will improve the team and help them win more games

For the moment Radosevic and Bogdanovic will at Cibona.Before the start of the season Bogdanovic extended his contract for three more years.
He has a contract till the end of the 2012/2013 season and Radosevic has a contract till the end of 2011/2012.
If the new management can keep Cibona healthy and keep paying their debts, they want to extend Radosevic's contract and keep both him and Bogdanovic. But if they get a very good offer for both of them, they are willing to listen if Radosevic and Bogdanovic wat to leave.
But like I said at the moment they will stay at Cibona and Cibona will talk about their contracts.

The new management that is backed by the city government is able to pay the salaries, the debts and new players.
Like I mentioned before in this tread: The new management's aim is to liquidate a percentage of the commercial holdings Cibona owns around the arena and with that money repay old debts and reinforce the squad with quality signings.
With the money they get will pay the debts and the salaries and than they will look for new players but they will not overpay them. But it will need to be players that can help the club right away
