ACB semifinals started yesterday In the first game TAU beat Real Madrid at home 91-80.
Unicaja Malaga beat Barcelona and sends the series into a 3rd game
ht in vitoria 35-37. But what i noticed is: how extremely bad the refs are!!!!

Crappy decisions all over the place against both teams. It's like they're blind, or trying to correct a mistake by another mistake all the time. And yesterday in malaga it was more or less the same picture
Everyone talks about Real Madrid, but what about Barcelona? Very disappointing season, they won't even play ACB finals. They won nothing this year, a whole season to waste. With the team they had at least a cup should be theirs right now.

They can still win the ACB man. Unless you know something we don't.

Quote:In an amazing game Barcelona outlasted guests Unicaja Malaga and pull the win and ACB finals participation in overtime. The blaugrana had a 7-point league at halftime, but the guests managed to come back and send the game to overtime where Barcelona outscored Unicaja 14-6.

Barcelona was led by Navarro, Andersen, Basile and Grimau who had 18, 17, 14 and 12 points respectively. Cabezas scored 15 for Unicaja to be followed by Archibald with 14, N'dong with 11 (and 8 rebs) and Kelati who had 10. The guests played again without Haislip and Berni who are injured.
As i expected barcelona beat tau in vitoria for game 1. Amazing 3pointer by basile. In the last barca posession andersen missed for 3 while tau was up by 1 and splitter instead of grabbing the reb tried to throw the ball as far away as possible. It ended up in basiles's hands and the job was done

Quote:The series turned around right in the first game as Tau was not able to hold on to their homecourt advantage and lost to Barcelona 80-82. The matchup came down to final posession where Lucas failed to knail the 3pointer and Barcelona left the court victorious.

Tau started the game strong, wanting revenge for the lost quarterfinal series of the Euroleague and closed the 1st quarter leading 21-15. Things changed in the 2nd though as they were outscore 16-28, being down by 6 at halftime themselves.

3rd and 4th quarters were pretty balanced when in the finals minutes Barcelona had a steady but small lead. Consecutive 3pointers by Tau however in the final minutes brought the game to a tie. 26,6" before buzzer Igor Rakocevic was at the freethrow line with the score being 79-79 where he converted 1/2. The final offense of Barcelona was run by Navarro who run the clock down and tried to drive. He passed outside to wide open Andersen who was unaible to make the 3pointer. Tau's big men however did not manage to get the rebound, instead Tiago Splitter tried to slap the ball as far away as possible so the clock runs out. Unfortunately for him the ball landed in Gianluca Basile's hands who knailed a 3pointer from 8 meters and gave a 2point lead to Barcelona with only 2" to go. After the time out Lucas missed the 3pointer and the game was over.

Andersen had 21, Lakovic 13, Vazquez 12 and Navarro 11 for Barcelona.

For Tau Rakocevic scored 19, Splitter 18 and Teletovic 11

Quote:Igor Rakocevic looked determined and wouldn't let this one slip out of their hands. Tau was fantastic in the final 15' minutes and left no chances to the visitors.

Tau took an early lead in the game, outplaying Barcelona and finished the 1st quarter with an 8-point lead (20-12). In the second quarter Tau looked completelly disoriented and had 5 consecutive turnovers and bad presence on both ends of the court. Barcelona had a 16-4 run to tie the game halfway into the quarter when Mirza Teletovic twisted his ankle.

Halftime found the 2 teams tied at 33-33

Situtation was pretty much the same at the beggining of the 3rd quarter with Barcleona maintening a minimal lead. After about 5', Teletovic returned to the game, worked perfectly with Rakocevic and gave a 5-point lead to enter the final quarter (54-49). Both teams were struggling offensively, and it was Tau to score the first points of the quarter. Barcelona scored their first bucket merely after 4' at which point Tau already had a 9-point lead. Barcelona Tried to comeback but with less than 3 minutes to go Tau reached a game-high 11-point lead after consecutive 3pointers by Rakocevic. That lead was kept untill the end of the game despite Lakovic' desperate efforts and the game ended 75-67 with the series standing 1-1

For the winners Rakocevic had 22, Mickeal added 19 and Prigioni 16

The guests saw Navarro scoring 21 while all the others had less than 10 points.

Quote:Barca left Tau no room to challenge them in game 3 playing solid throughout the game to win 85-67 and get one step closer to the title. Barcelona's defense focused on shutting down Tau's main offensive weapon aka Rakocevic and by doing so, won the game easily.

The first quarter featured disorientation on both ends, many missed shots by both sides and lots of mistakes especially by Tau. A couple of threepointers however gave Tau a close edge in the first quarter that finished 17-18.

In the second quarter Barcelona took advantage of their superiority in the paint and put the ball in the hands of their bigs, especially the amazing Ersan Ilyasova who had 9 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists in the second period. As a result Barcelona went to halftime with a seven point lead (40-33)

Same picture in the third quarter with Gianluca Basile taking over from where Ilyasova stopped, having 8 points in that period. The only one trying for Tau seemed to be Pablo Prigioni and so Barcelona took an eleven point lead to enter the last quarter.

And then there was showtime... Tau didn't manage to get back in the game early in the fourth quarter, with Rakocevic still strugling under Barcelona's defense, the threepointers were falling for the Catalans, Ilyasova kept up his pace having another 10 points and three rebounds and so the game ended 85-67 in favor of the hosts that will have their first matchpoint at home in 3 days.

Barcelona: Ilyasova 19 (9 rebs), Basile 19 (5/7 3s), Navarro 10, Andersen 10

Tau: Prigioni 12, Vidal 11, Rakocevic 10

Barcelona: Campeones!

Quote:In the fourth and final game of the series Barcelona beat Tau and become the new Spanish Champions. With a solid performance throughout the game the Catalans left no doubt about who's boss.

Barcelona showed from the first quarter that they would not let this one slip out of their hands. Fran Vazquez shut down Tiago Splitter and by that Tau's inside game and the three-pointers were falling in. But so did Tau's so the margin was kept at the lower figures. When coach Ivanovic benched Igor Rakocevic throughout the last three minutes of the period, Tau looked completelly disoriented and so Barca took a 9 point lead for the next quarter (27-18).

After 3 minutes in the secong quarter, Splitter and Prigioni got out for some rest with the second being replaced by Lucas. It was that point when Tau fell apart. Ilyasova ruled the paint in defense, Andersen did the same in offense and in the four minutes that Prigioni and Splitter were out the margin rised to 15. First half ended with a ten-point lead for Barcelona (43-33).

If Tau were to do anything, that was the right time. Barcelona however looked even stronger now, letting no room to the Basques who did stay in the game due to multiple 3s made mostly by Rakocevic and Prigioni. Splitter and Mickeal continued being negative for the guests. The margin rose by one to reach eleven (71-60).

Barca entered the last quarter with Santiago fouled out and Andersen quickly commiting his fourth, so it was up to Vazquez to pull the game in the paint. And so he did. Tau came as close as 8 points, but Navarro and Vazquez wouldn't let it happen. The margin reached 15 points with less than two minutes to play and so the game was over with Barca taking their revenge for last year's sweep-loss in tha finals against Tau. Final score 90-77.

This is the first championship for Barcelona since the 2003-04 season.

Barcelona: Navarro 19, Andersen 18, Vazquez 18, Basile 17, Grimau 9, Lakovic 5, Sada 4

Tau: Rakocevic 20, Splitter 15, Prigioni 13, San Emeterio 11, Vidal 7, Mickeal 6, Teletovic 3, McDonald 2

Well I would agree he's not the best coach around, at least in terms of decisions on court and winning mentality, but he gave TAU a Cup and Supercup, that's something.

Congrats to Barça, they really had to win something this season with such a team.
