Maccabi makes combo guard Haynes its first new addition

Turkish Airlines Euroleague champion Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv has added its first new player for next season, combo guard MarQuez Haynes, on a two-year contract announced Sunday. Haynes (1.91 meters, 27 years old) arrives from Montepaschi Siena, which he helped to reach the Italian League finals against EA7 Emporio Armani Milan, the team with whom he had started last season. In 34 Italian League games for both teams, to averaged 14.6 points, 4.2 assists and 2.1 rebounds. In Eurocup play for Siena, he put up 12 points, 4.7 assists and 2.7 rebounds on average. In the Euroleague with EA7 Milan, he averaged 3 points in 13 minutes over 10 regular season games. Prior to playing in Italy last season, Haynes had made his pro debut in France with Elan Chalon in the 2010-11 season, made his Eurocup debut with Gran Canaria in Spain the next year and continued in the competition with Artland Dragons of Germany in 2012-13. Prior to turning pro, Haynes split his university career between Boston College and University of Texas-Arlington. He has also played for the Georgian national team.
