Big name players including Donovan Mitchell, Carmelo Anthony and Dwight Howard spoke out about possibly sitting out due to social/COVID-19 issues.
NBPA leadership, Chris Paul and Garrett Temple provided insight on the Zoom call too, according to Shams Charania.
Every player reportedly had a voice and wants to find purpose, whether they play or not.
Irving led the call of 80-plus NBA players including Paul, Anthony, Mitchell, Kevin Durant and several others who spoke up about not supporting the resumed season due to nationwide unrest from social injustice/reform, Charania added.
Mitchell responded to the report on Twitter:
To clarify, Mitchell “expressed concerns about playing due to being ‘behind the eight ball’ having not played five-on-five and being thrust into a competitive environment and eight-game regular season,” Charania reported.
“We’re taking a big [injury] risk,” Mitchell reportedly said.
