In honour of basketball legend Michael Jordan and his incredible career, BT Sport takes a look back at some of his best moments. On Friday 29th May BT Sport ESPN will be showing a series of documentaries on his life and career, as well as games from his time with North Carolina.
BT Sport will first revisit some College Basketball Classic action from North Carolina in the 80’s. The 1981-1982 North Carolina Tar Heels are one of the most legendary teams in college basketball history, the team boasted three NBA players, including Michael Jordan himself. Jordan fans will be able to enjoy full replays of 5 unforgettable games, including the 1982 National Championship game against Patrick Ewing and the Georgetown Hoyas.
The classics action is then followed by four documentaries, Sole Man, Bad Boys, Jordan Rides the Bus and Rodman For Better or Worse.
Sole Man follows Sonny Vaccaro’s story, he is one of the sports world’s most charismatic, polarising and influential figures. It was Vaccaro who launched Nike’s “Air Jordan” empire in the 1980s.
Jordan Rides the Bus explores the real reason why Michael Jordan quit basketball to play Double-A baseball. Ron Shelton revisits Jordan’s short career in the minor leagues and explore the motivations that drove the world’s most competitive athlete to play a new sport in the relative obscurity of Birmingham, Alabama, for a young manager named Terry Francona.
