NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal had his own takeaway from ‘The Last Dance’, a Chicago Bulls dynasty docuseries. The four-time NBA champion was reminded of how great basketball was in the ’90s.
“I just realized the ’90s was the greatest era of basketball,” Shaq said when asked for his impressions of ‘The Last Dance’. The Orlando Magic with young O’Neal were one of the top teams in that era.
Shaq entered the NBA in 1992 and had an immediate impact leading Orlando to a 41-41 record. He also became the first rookie since Michael Jordan in 1985 to be selected as a starter for the All-Star Game.
The Magic made it to the playoffs in 1993-94 but were swept by the Pacers in First Round. Next season, Orlando went all the way to the NBA Finals, defeating the Jordan’s Bulls in the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals. In 1995-96, the Magic finished the regular season as number two seed behind Chicago. The two top teams in the East met in conference finals with Bulls coming on top.
In the offseason, Shaq left Orlando as a free agent and signed with the Los Angeles Lakers where he won three titles playing alongside Kobe Bryant.
