CARMELO TO LEAVE KNICKS FOR CHICAGO?
A league source has told the Knicks blog that the Chicago Bulls could be front-runners to land New York Knicks’ Carmelo Anthony this summer.
It is reported that Anthony wants to win an NBA title (who doesn’t) and feels that New York are not going anywhere fast, so if an offer is good and can be agreed upon by the Knicks and any of Anthony’s chosen destinations, then he will leave.
“He is looking to leave if one of the teams he likes can get a deal done with New York,” the source said. “He knows New York is not good enough the way they are currently constructed. Melo wants to win now. He will move if he feels that team can win.”
Anthony’s contract with the Knicks is now up and the dealine for him to opt out of his deal is this Monday.
CSKA KEEP VORONTSEVICH
CSKA Moscow have announced that Andrey Vorontsevich has signed a three-year extension on his contract.
Vorontsevich was a big part in helping CSKA to the Euroleague Final Four last season where they missed out on competing in the Final by losing to eventual champions Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv.
DONTA SMITH GOES TO JERUSALEM
Hapoel Jerusalem have signed American Donta Smith, Israeli journalist David Pick reported via Twitter.
Smith won the Israeli league MVP crown last season playing for Maccabi Haifa. Rumours also are that Smith turned down a reported a two-year deal from Maccabi Electra worth $1.1million.
