Raiders sign Benson
Plymouth Raiders have signed free scoring American guard Brent Benson from the Birmingham Knights for the next British Basketball League season.
The BBL off-season is barely a week old and the Devon side have made their fourth signing and despite Benson’s winless record with the Knights last season, he ended as the league’s second highest scorer [23.3ppg] along with 5 assists and 4 rebounds a game.
Birmingham Knights, the club who Benson played for last season are currently having a franchise review by the BBL following their 0-33 season.
La Bruixa d’Or waive Darryl Monroe
Liga Endesa strugglers La Bruixa d’Or have parted ways with American Darryl Monroe.
In 24 games, Monroe averaged 13 points a game. The Manresa-based side are 7-25 and in 17th place, second from bottom in Liga Endesa.
SVG takes charge in the Motor City
Detroit Pistons have named Stan Van Gundy as their new head coach and their new President of basketball operations.
Sources informed ESPN.com on Tuesday night that Van Gundy and the Pistons had verbally agreed to a five-year pact worth an estimated $35 million. The team will hold a news conference Thursday.
