The Sacramento Kings’ move to sign Richaun Holmes the previous summer went “under the radar” at first with several people seeing him as a rotation fill-in.
Despite that notion and the increased minutes this season, the 26-year old center looked comfortable in his role in Sacramento.
During the latest episode of the Purple Talk podcast, the pick-and-roll specialist sounded like a player who has found his NBA home.
“I absolutely love Sacramento,” Holmes told NBC Sports California. “This community, this city, these fans — have shown me, in my short time here, that I really couldn’t see myself playing anywhere else. I would love to play here the rest of my career. I love to play in front of these fans, be a part of this community — this is a great place to be and I’d love just to be a part of it.”
Holmes averaged 12.8 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1 assist and 1.4 blocks in 28 minutes per game, all career-highs with Kings being on the playoff conversation, before the “pause”.
After stints in Philadelphia and Phoenix, the dynamic center seems like he finally found the right opportunity to shine.
