Oklahoma City Thunder GM Sam Presti will launch Thunder Legacy Program for former players of the team.

To qualify for the program, Thunder players must, of course, be retired, while the events will eventually include former Thunder staff members.

According to Joe Mussato of the Oklahoman, GM Sam Presti came up with the idea last summer in order to keep former athletes connected with the organization.

“We’re still a young NBA organization by historical standards, so this is our first opportunity to design something for our former players that is an extension of the environment that many of them helped create,” Presti said.

“Since 2008 we have expressed to our players, no matter their role or tenure, that they are part of building the legacy of our organization,” Presti continued.

“It is really built on relationships — players and staff who have put their time in here, giving those that desire it a basketball home.”
