Unicaja Malaga tabs shooting ace Toolson

Unicaja Malaga added fire power to its roster by inking shooting guard Ryan Toolson to a one-year deal on Tuesday, with an option to extend it until the end of the 2014-15 season.

Toolson (1.93 meters, 28 years old) arrives from Herbalife Gran Canaria, where he averaged 14.2 points on 45.1% three-point shooting and 88.7% free throw accuracy. He helped Gran Canaria to make it to both the Spanish League and the Copa del Rey semifinals for the first time in club history.

Toolson has also played for Aliaga Petkim and Pinar Karsiyaka in Turkey, as well as for Benetton Treviso and Fabi Shoes Montegranaro in Italy since he finished his career at Utah Valley University (NCAA). He averaged 23.8 points in 28 NCAA games in the 2008-09 season – his senior one at Utah Valley.

Toolson is set to make his Turkish Airlines Euroleague debut with Unicaja next season.
