Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius has strengthened its front court with Croatian big man Tomislav Zubcic.
The 213 cm tall player who will celebrate his 23rd birthday on January 17 comes from Cibona Zagreb, where he has been playing since 2008.
The player should fill empty center position spot, which was left after Leon Radosevic parted ways with the team and returned to EA7 Emporio Armani Milano.
Contract was made for season and a half, including NBA-out option.
As Lietuvos Rytas’ director Martynas Purlys told lrytas.lt, player is expected to fill the position left by Leon Radosevic.
“Since Leon left the team and Mindaugas Katelynas with Vilmantas Dilys are out due to injuries, we have only two big men. That’s why we could not wait long and decided to sign a contract with Zubcic”, – Purlys explained the decision.
This season in Eurocup competition Zubcic averaged 9.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1 steal and 2 assists per game.
In NBA draft in 2012 the player was selected with 56 overall pick by the Toronto Raptors.
