Pops cut from Maccabi roster

Great Britain international Pops Mensah-Bonsu has been released by Euroleague giants Maccabi Electra after failing a medical.

This comes after Pops underwent knee surgery, post-Olympics in the United States. On arrival in Israel, the club deemed the 28-year-old forward unfit to play and an agreement has been reached for his release.

Mensah-Bonsu has spent the majority of his career globetrotting the NBA and Europe, playing for Dallas Mavericks, Toronto Raptors, New Orleans Hornets as well as Euroleague side CSKA Moscow.

The Londoner spent last season with Turkish side Besiktas where he won the Eurochallenge and earned MVP honours.
