Euroleague Basketball, VTB discussions advance

Representatives of Euroleague Basketball and the VTB United League have been in conversations in the past couple of weeks with the aim of evolving the principles discussed in a joint meeting on April 15, 2012 to the necessities and goals that various clubs, National Leagues and Federations have expressed.

The involved parties have reiterated that the main goal of these conversations is to integrate the VTB United League into the structure of European Club Basketball Competitions at the same time as guaranteeing the development of National Championships that together with their clubs are the foundation of European Basketball.

As a result of these conversations, the proposed agreement that will be presented to the VTB United League Board and Euroleague Basketball General Assembly will incorporate an access path from the VTB United League into the Turkish Airlines Euroleague competition.

The National Championship ranking will be respected as well, staying as the path to assign licences into the Turkish Airlines Euroleague competition.

Representatives from both organisations are continuing to work together in order to find a solution in the clubs competitions calendar so that each VTB United League participant can also participate in their National Championship without having an adverse effect on their participation in Euroleague Basketball competitions.
